The James Bond Files ~
Mark O’Connell

James Bond Avalanche

In April 2023, on his radio program Flashback, which aired online over the internet radio station KSAV, Wesley Britton continued a “James Bond Avalanche” to celebrate the 70 years of Agent 007. Featured were several authors, actors, behind-the-scenes folks, and fans of the world of James Bond.

The series continues on Monday, April 5, 2023, with an interview with Mark O’Connell, James Bond fan and author of Catching Bullets: Memoirs of a Bond Fan (2012).

As his grandfather was a chauffeur at EON Productions, Mark has lots of insider stories to share about Cubby and Barbara Broccolli, Roger Moore, Maud Adams, and Grace Jones, along with a number of insights into the entire 007 canon.

Also on the program was Robert Short, Hollywood technical and visual effects supervisor who has worked on many movies, including The Return of the Man From U.N.C.L.E. (1983).

The interview is available as a podcast on Wesley Britton’s podcast Remember When. To listen, click the link below.

About Catching Bullets: Memoirs of a Bond Fan ~

Cover – Catching Bullets

Catching Bullets: Memoirs of a Bond Fan is a wonderfully funny and touching memoir by author and Bond fan Mark O’Connell, whose grandfather Jimmy was a chauffeur for Eon Productions.

So while Jimmy was driving around the likes of Cubby Broccoli, Roger Moore, and Sean Connery, young Mark also hitched a ride, and so his infatuation with all things Bond took hold.

Set against a backdrop of the Thatcher era, Duran Duran songs, and his own closeted adolescence, Mark takes the reader on a humorous, filmic journey where Bond films fire like bullets.

Mark writes from the heart on a subject he loves passionately, beginning with his childhood, when he would bolt down his tea to watch Roger Moore leaping out of a plane without a parachute.

A foreword by long-time fan Mark Gatiss and an afterword by Maud Adams is likely to jog magical memories for many, as well as provoke passionate debate.

This is perfect bedtime reading and will remind everyone why they fell in love with James Bond in the first place.
